In the great American west, Yellowstone National Park beckons wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike. With its sprawling woodlands, expansive meadows, and towering mountain ranges, this natural wonderland boasts an unparalleled diversity of wildlife species. During this captivating five-day vehicle-based photo safari, you will embark on an journey into Yellowstone's thriving ecosystem. With the guidance of seasoned wildlife photographers, you will have the opportunity to capture extraordinary images of Bald Eagles soaring through the skies, osprey diving for fish, moose grazing by tranquil lakes, and coyotes playfully traversing the vast meadows. Keep your camera ready for unexpected encounters with curious marmots, agile pronghorn, elusive badgers, and resilient bighorn sheep.

To ensure an intimate and personalized experience, our group sizes are intentionally kept small. This allows for one-on-one instruction and ample time to observe and photograph the park's remarkable wildlife. While this trip involves less hiking compared to some of our other photography workshops, it offers unparalleled opportunities to witness Yellowstone's natural wonders. We traverse the park's scenic roadways, venturing off the beaten path to explore hidden backroads and discover secluded spots brimming with wildlife.

Beyond capturing captivating wildlife moments, we will also visit Yellowstone's iconic landmarks. Marvel at the awe-inspiring eruptions of Old Faithful, witness the vibrant hues of the Grand Prismatic Spring, and take in the breathtaking vistas of Hayden and Lamar Valleys. TRIP DESCRIPTION

Yellowstone National Park is one of the most remarkable destinations in North America for wildlife and landscape photography.

The Lamar and Hayden Valleys offer excellent opportunities to photograph wildlife such as bison, elk, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, wolves, and bears. During the fall, elk are entering the rut and wildlife is becoming more active as the seasons begin to change.

In addition to wildlife, we’ll photograph some of Yellowstone’s most iconic landscapes and geothermal features, including the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Upper and Lower Falls, geysers, and Grand Prismatic Spring.

Our guides have spent years exploring Yellowstone and the surrounding area and use that experience to help place photographers in locations with strong photographic potential.

Our days often begin early and may continue until after sunset. Morning and evening light can provide some of the best opportunities for both wildlife and landscape photography.

Throughout the tour, your photography guides will be available to help with camera settings, composition, wildlife photography, changing light, and other questions that arise in the field.

The tour is limited to approximately 4–6 photographers, allowing us to provide a more personal and flexible photography experience.

TRIP DETAILS

Weather

Start Location:

Bozeman, Montana. (Must arrive by 2pm)

Travel to Gardner, Montanta

Meet and Greet at 5 pm (in Gardner)

End Location: Bozeman, Montan

Drop off at 1:00pm

Expect warm pleasant days with cold mornings and nights. The weather can prove unpredictable in Yellowstone and can change on a moment’s notice. Remember some of the best photographs are made before, during and immediately after a storm cycle. There is no such thing as bad weather just poor layering and gear choices – please plan accordingly! Make sure you are prepared for rain and snow!

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 1 Travel Day

Dinner will be provided

If flying, arrive in Bozeman, MT by 2:00pm. We will be traveling to Gardner, Montana for a meet and greet dinner. We will also be going over gear and the itinerary. We will be staying in Gardner MT. for our base location.

Day 2 ( B,L,D)

We will begin with an early in the morning at Mammoth Hot Spring. Exploring the hot springs while looking for wildlife along the way, from there, we will be making our way to Lamar Valley to start looking for wildlife We will be ending our day in Mammoth photographing wildlife and hopefully a sunset if weather permits.

Day 3 ( B,L,D)

We will have another early morning departure to start making our way to Old Faithful and the Grand Prismatic. Along with way we will be stopping to explore the many geysers including Fire Hole and take a walk on some of the boardwalks. Of course if we see wildlife we will be stopping to photograph them.

Day 4 ( B,L,D)

Once again we will head out early for our morning sunrise, as we start to make our way to the Upper and Lower Falls of Yellowstone. This is also know as the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. We will always be on the look out for wildlife to photograph. After we photograph the canyon we will be making our way to Hayden Valley to photograph wildlife.

Day 5 (B,L,D) 

We’ll get started early on our first morning, setting off pre-dawn to set up for an iconic sunrise location. We will then start looking for wildlife. In the Spring we’ll be at the Park during calving season, so wildlife like grizzly bear, black bear, elk, bison, and pronghorn, among others, should be quite active.  We will be making our way to the Grand Tetons depending on weather.  

Day 6 ( B,)

This will be our last day of our journey. We will start early to capture the wildlife in Mammoth Hot Springs and the surrounding areas. We will be departing to get back to Bozeman, MT. for anyone that will be flying out.
